Surrey Heartlands ICB supporting practices in no longer prescribing for minor illnesses, in line with NHS England guidance.

For minor illnesses, patients can refer to a Community Pharmacist for a same-day consultation.

 Examples of minor illnesses include:

  • Coughs and colds
  • Sore eyes
  • Tummy upsets
  • Headaches
  • Skin rashes and blisters
  • Sleeping difficulties
    …and more.

The pharmacist will provide clinical advice and, where appropriate, recommend or supply over-the-counter medication. This referral pathway helps patients access timely care and supports practices in reducing unnecessary GP appointments.
